Local setup
Up and running in five steps
Prefer the Chrome Web Store for everyday use. These steps are for loading MyMemos from source on your machine (contributors and sideloading).
Get the source
Clone the GitHub repo (or download the source ZIP from the repository page).
Install and build
From the project root run npm install, npm install --prefix extension, then npm run package:extension to produce the extension ZIP.
Unzip the package
Extract public/mymemos-extension.zip (or use extension/dist/ after npm run dev) into a folder on your machine.
Load unpacked
Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and select that folder.
Open a new tab
MyMemos replaces your New Tab - start writing immediately.

Yes. MyMemos is free and open source. There is no subscription, account, or paid tier.
Yes. Notes stay in your browser on this device. MyMemos does not require a login and does not sync your content anywhere, so your writing stays local by default. Uninstalling the extension removes that data from this browser.
No. Note-taking, editing, search, and attachments work offline because everything is stored on your device.
